Our story

A little light for every feast

Glimble makes candles for the feasts and seasons of the traditional Catholic year, sparking devotion for the saints and the old customs handed down to us.

No. I · The shape of the year

Backstory & mission

I stumbled upon the idea of making candles quite by accident. I've DIYed a lot of stuff - but I NEVER thought I would dabble in candles. Messing around with hot wax while five littles run amok in the background? Forget it. But then my husband and I we were sitting down one evening bantering back and forth about fun candle scents and how it would be cool if we actually had our own candle shop. In that moment, something ignited in me (if you thought you could read through this without encountering a candle pun, you were sadly mistaken). Yes. That's it. I've always had an entrepreneurial spirit, but I needed an outlet and direction, and suddenly I had one. After weeks of research and testing and turning our kitchen into a science lab, I was finally ready to launch Glimble (which, fun fact, is actually an archaic word for glimmer!)

Glimble's mission is to honor the seasons of the liturgical year, literally sharing the light of Christ with the world, following the feast days of the saints through Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter. We want to bring these liturgical seasons to life in homes once again. Our ancestors created memories around the food, songs, and smells of these feasts, and we can too.

“Thy word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my paths.”
Psalm 118:105
No. II · The candles

A feast you can smell

Every Glimble candle is made for one feast or season, and its scent is drawn from the customs that grew up around it (and of course from the seasons of the natural world, since God made those too!) When you smell woodsmoke, maple, and spice, you can almost see St. Nicholas disappearing into the dark street. When you catch the scent of fresh coffee and golden pumpkin, you can imagine yourself following behind St. Lucy as she carries food to the poor, her path lit by an evergreen wreath of candles. And when you detect warm custard and caramelized sugar, you immediately think of the cheerful faces all gathered around for the flaming pudding of Christmas Day.

Our candles are made of coconut blend wax, crackling wooden wicks, and high quality fragrance oils to infuse your home with memory - the memory of lost customs restored once again to their rightful place.

No. III · The Library of Light

A story in every jar

We wanted each candle to carry more than a scent. So every one comes with a key, and every key unseals a storybook tale in our Library of Light: the saint or the feast, the history behind it, the customs families have kept for centuries, and a small prayer for lighting the candle at home.

The Library grows with each passing year. Every candle you bring home lights another place on your shelf.

No. IV · Our hope

Tradition restored

We hope a Glimble candle becomes part of how your family celebrates the life of the Church. Over the years, may the scent of each candle bring back the memories of feasts past.
